                                        Changes to United Kingdom visas, announced on march 2012 , 2011 have come into force on April 6, 2011.According to the changes, the post study work PSW route, which earlier allowed students to work in the united kingdom for two years after they completed their studies , will close. Students graduating with a united kingdom degree, PGCE or PGDE from a a recognized or listed body will need to successfully apply for a job with a united kingdom border agency licensed tier 2 sponsor to remain and work in the united kingdom. The post for which they are applying must be paid a minimum salary of £20,000 or the minimum set out in the relevant code of practice.

                              
                                       However according to Nick Petford , Vice Chancellor , university to Northampton , the withdrawal of PSW  does not mean that the united kingdom is closed in terms of employment opportunities to Indian graduate and post graduate from united kingdom university.

                                                         Petford explains, ''There are still opportunities for graduates to apply for employment under Tier 2 work - permit which allows for graduate level employment . Also skills short age areas are open to non - EU applicants to obtain work in the united kingdom. Skills shortage areas are kept under constant review and updated to meet needs of united kingdom industries for qulified employees. There are also a range of other schemes to enable talented and entrepreneurial graduates to experience employment opportunities in the united kingdom , ie, the new Tier 1 graduate entrepreneur scheme.'' 

                                                        '' The government clearly recognises the contribution - financial and otherwise - that skilled international graduates can bring to the united kingdom economy . It is  therefore , ensuring that the brightest and the best graduate with job offers commensurate with their qualification have a route to work in the united kingdom after their studies,'' she had said.
